How do we make inferences?

Inference is making a guess or reading between the lines. Melinda titles her page "Our teachers are the best." Then she goes on to describe her English teacher as being weird. She has black and orange hair that makes her look like an emerging Monarch butterfly. Melinda doesn't really mean her teachers are the best. She means the opposite.

What is the author's purpose?

The author is writng from a ninth grader's point of view in the book "Speak." The author, Ms. Anderson tries to show the loneliness of a student who called the cops and busted up a summer party. Melinda, the main character, is beng avoided by her frinds. Rachel Bruin is Melinda's ex-best friend. Melinda would really like to tell Rachel what really happened the night of the party but she can't.

We wear uniforms because we're Seniors and we wear navy blue shirts and khaki pants. We're also part of team Inquiry we should be proud to wear unifrms because everyone can tell were eighth graders.

My Vacation

The best part of my vacation was going to Chucky Cheese.I had fun playing the games and eating pizza with my cousin and my aunt. I won lots of tokens and played more games. They played great music there too. I had lots of fun.
